Everyone here at Cabinwood Farm has fallen in love with our handsome visitor! Echo came about a month ago on loan to us from Kerns Bray’n Hill Farm and our friends JD and Debbie Kerns. He is standing stud here for the rest of the breeding season! Echo is a 2 yr old, NLP, no cross or stripe studly muffin and just barely hits the stick at around 30″ but don’t under estimate this little guy…..come next summer he’ll have his first foals on the ground in both northern and southern Ohio!

Many Thanks to JD and Debbie Kerns for allowing us to bring Echo to Cabinwood. We look forward to having some excellent Echo foals next year!

It was a long weekend in Canfield, OH for our little Westie boy Hank but he did well competing with the big boys! We were very proud of his performances every day with several different handlers. Our friend Santiago Pinto handled him 3 out of 4 days for a Reserve Winners Dog, a third place in Class and a fourth place in Class. Jaime Koskowski handled him on Friday for a second place in Class. It was a good experience for all of us and Hank really does have a good time showing! More shows to come in the future! Good Luck Hank!

After 4 boys in a row, it was quite joyful to see this little girl come into the world last night!!

Welcome Cabinwood’s Lady Pearlina born around 10:30pm July 29, 2010. Her Dam is Pieratt Possum and her Sire is Cabinwood’s JTChance. At first glance she looked perfect in every way!!!

Cabinwood’s Lights Out Louie is maturing into one handsome little fellow these days! Louie’s sire, our senior ivory herdsire JTChance, has given us two beautiful foals so far with two more expected this year. Louie is for sale at Cabinwood now but won’t be weaned for another month or so. Isn’t he just the cutest thing!

Here is our Junior herdsire Furball Acres Jokers Wild. He is two years old now and trying to become a stud for us here at Cabinwood! Joker is not only an extremely dark brown jack with no stripe or cross but is also an ivory carrier who can breed blue-eyed ivory donkeys to produce possibly an ivory foal or also breed other ivory carriers to possibly produce an ivory foal. He is quite the fellow standing at 31″ and holding!

Over the weekend he got his first major haircut and a good scrubbing bath and he was none too happy about the whole ordeal! Despite his displeasure, I think he looks wonderfully handsome in his new summer outfit!

Pebbles and her new little fellow Lights Out Louie are now out and about in the pasture with the herd! They ended up staying in the barn longer than usual due to inclement weather and also because I had to attend my Grandmother’s funeral in southern Ohio. But, they are out with the bunch now and Louie is doing GREAT! He seems to like all the other donkeys and Pebbles is being a very good mother. Tiny Marlowe has taken a shine to Louie so they can frequently be seen getting to know each other and playing. I hope they can be good friends!

Please welcome our newest foal Cabinwood’s Lights Out Louie!! LOLouie was born in the wee hours of the night during thunderstorms, tornado warnings, flooding and then as if that wasn’t enough chaos, 10 minutes after his birth, the electricity went off and the LIGHTS went OUT in the barn! Luckily the lights were on long enough for me to see that he was a spotted donkey (Our VERY FIRST ONE born here at Cabinwood!) and also alas…that he was another boy! If he had to be a boy then we are eternally grateful that he is ever so handsome, extremely healthy and appears to be full of the same magic and electric energy as the storms he came into the world with!

LOLouie is the second foal born by our ivory herdsire JTChance (lady Cynthia was the first last year) and he is our second ivory carrier foal born here, also.

Welcome to Cabinwood Louie!!!

 Today we say goodbye to our little weanling boys J. Higgins and Takota Shadow. I’ll be delivering them to their new home in Medina, Ohio this morning where they will now be loved and cherished as members of the Guenther Family! It’s always hard to part with these little guys but this time harder then usual since Higgins has been my favorite companion baby since his birth. Sometimes no matter how hard you try not to get attached to them, one comes along that grabs at your heart. Higgins had mine from the beginning! That being said, it is easier to let them go when you know they are going to a great home! I know they’ll enjoy Higgy and Shadow as much as I did!  Happy Home, Boys!

First he was born the tiniest little thing we ever had here at Cabinwood and then the rains came and the storms and tornado warnings and it seems that day after day in the barn then turned into over a week! Finally today as the sun came out and the rain stayed away, Gypsy took Little Marlow to the pasture to meet up with the other foals and all the aunties! Marlowe barely stopped running all day long! He was such a happy little guy but Gypsy was less thrilled as she chased after him trying to keep him in control!!! He may be small but he sure is a DYNAMO!

Every year someone gets the honorary distinction of having a Cabinwood donkey named after them! We’ve had Clifford and Kaitlin and Jeffrey and Cynthia and this year it was our good friend and loyal Olde Towne Grille bartender/server Nick Brown! Cabinwood’s Nicholass was our first born jack of 2010 and he is one gorgeous little foal. Nick stopped by on Mother’s Day and we were finally able to get a picture of the two of them together!
